Note:
One of earliest settlers in Hempstead, New York. His wife died before 20 May 1690. The will was dated 10 March 1695, which mentions: "my daughter Mary, wife of Samuel Denton..."
Also, he received the nickname of "Rock" because he built his house with a large rock serving as his fireplace. Also, there were so many different Smiths, that it was common to use a nickname to distinguish where each Smith belonged.
