Notes:
Stephen Arnold lived mostly at Pawtuxet, Rhode Island. Bought land from John Sayles and his father William Arnold. Bought from Quonontholt, son of Miantonimi in 1678. He served as assistant Govenor May 1680. He held this office several times under several governors, one being his brother Benedict Arnold will proved in 1699. His wife Sarah Smith Arnold also left a will. Most of the facts about Stephen Arnold are in the Arnold Memorial. The book is in several genealogical libraries. One in Burbank at the southern Calif Gen society library. He and his wife Sarah's bodies were removed from the original grave to the Swan Point cemetery in Providence, R.I. He was the last survivor of the original party that went into Providencewith Roger William. This was 13 families that founded providence in 1636. He was brought to the American colonies by his parents, William & Christian Arnold from Ilchester, England in 1635[Arnold.FTW]
