16. Sanford Porter, son of Nathan Porter and Susannah West, was born on 7 Mar 1790 in Brimfield, Hampden, Massachusetts, died on 9 Feb 1873 in Porterville, Morgan, Utah at age 82, and was buried on 11 Feb 1873 in Porterville, Morgan, Utah. Sanford married Nancy Warriner on 1 Jan 1812 in Vershire, Orange, VT.

 

Marriage Notes: They were sealed by A.M. Lyman at 6:35 pm. at the Nauvoo temple. The witnesses were Willard Richards and Isaac Morley.

Marriage Notes: Sealed in the office of President Brigham Young. Tradition says that Nancy Warriner Porter was good friends with Phebe Simpson. When Phebe’s husband left the Mormon Church and went to California (died two years later), Nancy asked Sanford to marry her good friend.

 

17. Nancy Warriner, daughter of Reuben Warriner and Sarah Colton, was born on 29 Jul 1790 in Vershire, Orange, Vermont, died on 2 May 1864 in Porterville, Morgan, Utah at age 73, and was buried on 4 May 1864 in Porterville, Morgan, Utah. 

 

General Notes: Written by Nancy M. Porter, "She (Grandmother Nancy) reared her children in kindness and love. She was amiable to all and very patient through the trials of life." She cared for the sick and was often the midwife when new babies came to the families in the settlements and she lent help and provision for those in need wherever she found them.

 She was described as having large dark eyes, long dark hair.

 

18. James Emmet, son of Silas Emmett and Elizabeth Trowbridge, was born on 22 Feb 1803 in Boone County, KY and died on 28 Dec 1852 in Cottonwood, Shasta, CA at age 49. James married Phebe Jane Simpson on 13 Apr 1823 in Boone County, KY.

19. Phebe Jane Simpson, daughter of Moses S. Simpson and Delphi (Delphey) Florence, was born on 10 Aug 1805 in Caswell co., NC, died on 14 Nov 1883 in Eden, Ogden Valley, Utah at age 78, and was buried in Huntsville, Weber, UT. Another name for Phebe was Emmet. Phebe married Sanford Porter1 on 5 Sep 1854 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Phebe next married James Emmet on 13 Apr 1823 in Boone County, KY.

 

20. Richard Ashdown, son of James Ashdown and Mary Briant, was born on 2 Dec 1813 in Waldron, Sussex, Eng and died on 26 Sep 1902 in Bountiful, Davis, UT at age 88. Richard married Ann Burgess on 10 Nov 1841 in Waldron, Sussex, Eng. The marriage ended in divorce.

General Notes: William's occupation was that of a Mason and he was one of the signers of the "Missouri Redress Petition" He was a High Priest and was selected as one of the High Priest to go on missions to various congressional districts in the U.S. He was unable to cross the plains with the Saints because of illness. He went to live with his son William Orr Parks in Louisiana, Pike, Missouri and there died.

General Notes: Millesant was one of the signers of the "Missouri Redress Petition." She was a widow when she married William Parks, also a widower, at Kirtland, Ohio by Brigham Young.
